Most bloggers have a little personal info about themselves. Here is a little about me, in Q & A form.

What is your name?

You may call me The Timekeeper. (In a previous incarnation, I was known as Scutum Sobieski.)

What is your real name?

My first name is Ron. My last name is unimportant.

Why don't you use a last name?

When I was on active duty, I used the pseudonym as a (flimsy) barrier to afford me some leeway if I decided to criticize anyone in the government. Now, it is just second nature to me. If you really need to know who I am, you can do a whois on my domain. You probably won't recognize the name, because I am not anyone special. I neither possess nor claim any special expertise on most of the topics on which I will post.

What do you do for a living?

Right now, I have my military retiree pay, although once I settle in to Gainesville, I will be enrolling in the community college there, in preparation to attend the University of Florida. I wish to pursue a degree in Journalism, and UF has a well-regarded program. Since I am a Florida resident, it is also affordable, which is a definite consideration right now. While I was in the military, I was an Avionics Technician, repairing electronics for our EA-6B Prowler and SH-60B Seahawk aircraft. I am burned out on electronics, which is why I am pursuing a field quite different from where all of my knowledge and training has been directed.

How old are you?

I’m in my late thirties.

Do you have a picture?

For the terminally curious, click here.(This picture is out of date; a new one will be posted shortly.)

Where are you?

Somewhere in Central Florida. I will be relocating to Gainesville in the immediate future.

Why do you blog?

I started this blog when I found myself shouting out the newspapers one time too many. (If I had a TV, I probably would have started even earlier). As it turned out, two days after I started the blog, Israel began its offensive in the West Bank, providing me with something to write about.

Do you have a family? Do you have kids?

I am single, and have no children (marriage is apparently optional before kids these days, but I’m old-fashioned about that sort of thing). I suppose I will settle down one day, but it’s not something that is in my immediate future. And no, I am not looking for candidates. (grin)

Where is your tip jar?

I don’t have one, and I don’t plan to add one. Outside of a large one-time expenditure, this weblog costs only a few dollars a month, and I can easily absorb that cost. If my views mean that much to you, leave a comment or e-mail me at blogger-at-horologium.net. Like most bloggers, I receive a great deal of gratitude from feedback, even if it is negative.

Do you have a blogger code?

But of course. B5 d t+ k+ s+ u- f+ i o x e l+ c

Is there anything else that you’d like to share?

Politics—Republican with Libertarian leanings. I believe in less government, not no government. Stay out of my bedroom and out of my wallet.

Music—must have a melody (one that can be hummed) and the singer must be able to carry a tune.

Books—I read about 5 books a month. I enjoy mysteries, political thrillers, and non-fiction politics.

Food—bland is good. I don’t care for spicy food or anything of a ethnic variety. I don’t do vegetables.

TV—I'm not a big TV junkie, but I do enjoy the "home improvement" shows on TLC and HGTV. I also make an effort to catch the original CSI and Survivor on Thursdays.
